“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”

Alright, the number of questions regarding the breaking news on the helicopter crash involving the Iranian President and Foreign Minister are too many to ignore, even on a Sunday.

As we wrote in Part 2: Best Sources on Middle East Politics, some people in the region would go so far as to blame the Great (or Little) Satan for last week's torrential rain floods. We should have also said this applies to foggy weather. Hanlon's razor may be applicable here. The fact that the convoy of helicopters was flying back from the border with Azerbaijan helps to fuel speculation of Mossad malfeasance.

Leaving aside baseless speculations and those on (both) mainstream and social media channels with an axe to grind, the best political analyst on Iran (by a long mile, in our view) to follow is Ali Vaez (@AliVaez). For good reasons, he is also a senior adviser to the President of the United States on Iran and the Director of the Iran Project at the International Crisis Group—a top-shelf D.C. think tank.

Besides the posts where he expresses his personal views, Vaez is also an excellent curator of content. In addition to being a talented analyst, he is also an incredibly nice, balanced and thoughtful individual.

The potential death of Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abollahian, may be more consequential to current affairs.
