Carsten Nickel

Carsten Nickels is co-deputy head of research and a Managing Director at Teneo. Based in Brussels, his research focuses on Brexit, EU, and German politics.

Carsten Nickel is a Managing Director with Teneo. Following stints in Berlin and Brussels, Carsten is based in London where he co-launched Teneo’s political risk advisory service in 2013.

He covers Western Europe, with a focus on Brexit, the EU institutions and Germany. He is also a regular commentator for a variety of media outlets.

Prior to joining Teneo, Carsten was as an analyst in the Europe practice of Eurasia Group. Earlier, he worked for a member of the German Bundestag in Berlin.

He holds a doctorate in politics from St Antony’s College Oxford and master’s degrees from the London School of Economics and Ruhr University Bochum.
